The nodes that compose the network work under strong energy restrictions and their transceivers are the main responsible for the consumption of resources.CLUDITEM is a hierarchical routing algorithm for periodic variable measuring that incorporates strategies aimed to prolong system lifetime. For that, transceivers are kept off as much as possible and clusters are defined, each one with similar depth and number of members, whose headers are rotated periodically in order to balance the load among the devices.Metrics were defined based in the CLUDITEM design objectives and they were applied to the simulation results to evaluate the efficiency of the implemented strategies. The analysis done proved that the chosen techniques were successful with the aim of extending the network lifetime. Las redes de sensores se utilizan para medir variables del medio, con el objetivo de realizar la supervisión de entornos y actividades de diversa índole. Los nodos que las componen trabajan bajo fuertes restricciones de energía, siendo sus transceptores los principales consumidores de recursos.CLUDITEM es un algoritmo de encaminamiento jerárquico para medición periódica de variables, que incorpora estrategias orientadas a prolongar la vida útil del sistema. Para ello se mantienen apagados los transceptores todo el tiempo posible, y se definen clusters de profundidad y cantidad de integrantes similares cuyas cabeceras se rotan periódicamente para balancear la carga de trabajo entre los dispositivos.  Se definieron métricas en base a los objetivos de diseño de CLUDITEM, y se las aplicó a los resultados de simulación para evaluar la eficiencia de las estrategias implementadas. El análisis realizado demostró que las técnicas elegidas resultaron exitosas para prolongar la vida útil de la red.
