The community relies on the StateUniversity carries out its functions of teaching, research and extension on the basis of principles and criteria that may not coincide with the interests and the logic of the market. Conflicts of interest must be specified in previous form and requires public regulatory bodies to safeguard the ethical integrity of the institution and its members. Improving the quality of the scientific-technical cooperation between the university and the productive sector depends undertake to define interests, needs and obligations of both parties. University needs to equip itself with inner regulations in order to identify conflicts of interest, and ought to develop its duties in accordance with the respect for legimate interests of the community

Se presentan cuando el diseño de la investigación, la obtención o presentación de resultados se vinculan a compensaciones para los autores en relación con el grado de éxito del proyecto. Son cada vez más frecuentes como consecuencia de la creciente cooperación entre la investigación pública y el sector productivo y de la insuficiencia de recursos para investigación de origen público. La sociedad confía en que la Universidad estatal ejerce sus funciones de docencia, investigación y extensión con juicio independiente, sobre la base de principios y criterios que pueden no ser coincidentes con los intereses y la lógica del mercado. Los conflictos de intereses deben explicitarse en forma previa y se requiere de instancias públicas de regulación que resguarden la integridad ética de la institución y de sus miembros. Mejorar la calidad de la cooperación científico-técnica entre el ámbito universitario y el sector productivo depende de asumir el compromiso de delimitar intereses, necesidades y obligaciones de ambas partes.
