Sumario:This article is the result of a study on teaching in higher education, especially in the pedagogy course, whose objective is to guide students in training, as well as professionals in the area on the identity and practice of the teaching profession and its formation In higher education. In order to do so, material references published in the last ten years were selected as references that could contribute to a better understanding of the reality, as well as the needs related to the subject matter. The results show that the quality of higher education in the pedagogy course and the work done by teachers in the classroom have a close relationship. Developing the skills and abilities to think and learn planned and organized in a suitable environment is fundamental to promote the changes that are so much sought, thus leading to a significant improvement of learning in the classroom. Teacher training courses, especially in pedagogy, should offer support so that new education professionals can actually contribute to the process of growth and thus the maturation of society. It is believed that with the practice and development of the intellectual activities carried out in a concrete and participative way one can have a formation of integral fact. In this sense, it is understood that the methods used during the training process of the students of the pedagogy course should provide the student with an understanding of the mechanisms that lead to learning, in a conscious and autonomous way, forming in the student strategies that lead him to analyze And resolve conflicts.
