It is that they reach that age with quality of life. The preservation of masticatory, phonetic and aesthetic functions of the mouth are considered some of the variables to consider in measuring quality of life. Although it is very important what has worked in prevention, dentistry has not finished occupy a significant space in the area of health, and in the future will face another challenge in the training of human resources for strategies to maintain and improve oral health in very old patients. This not only implies specific learning but must think in interdisciplinary approaches aimed at changing lifestyle, repecting the cultural characteristics of each population group. El aumento de las expectativas de vida ha crecido en un promedio importante y en un futuro cercano  se tendrán pacientes con edades promedios de 90 años. Se trata de que los mismos lleguen a esa edad con calidad de vida. La conservación de las   funciones masticatorias, fonéticas y  estéticas de la boca son consideradas como algunas de lasvariables a tener en cuenta en la  medición de calidad de vida. Aunque es muy importante lo que se ha trabajado en prevención, la odontología no ha terminado de ocupar un espacio relevante en el área de salud, y en u n futuro deberá enfrentar otro desafió en la formación de sus recursos humanos para lograr estrategias a mantener y mejorar la salud bucal en pacientes muy mayores.
