This work presents the development of the study of Dentistry Embryology and Histology since they are considered the resource used par excellence in the development of the teaching learning processes. The contents dealt with in the study framework were the importance of the textbook, its evolution and concept today; a review of the state of the issue related to textbook research and methodologies applied to this day.Finally, there is the presentation of a methodology with the intention of providing an innovative contribution to the study of textbooks for its subsequent application in the teaching activity, with the purpose of improving the efficiency in the university teaching learning processes resulting in the heightening of its quality and in the favorable effect in the role played by teachers and students. Este trabajo presenta el desarrollo del estudio de los libros de texto de Embriología e Histología Odontológicos por considerarlos el recurso utilizado por excelencia en el desarrollo de los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje. Los contenidos tratados en el marco del estudio fueron la importancia del libro, evolución y concepto en la actualidad; una reseña del estado de la cuestión en torno a la investigación de los libros de texto y las metodologías aplicadas hasta el presente. Finalmente se expone una metodología con la intención de realizar un aporte innovador al estudio de los libros de texto para su posterior aplicación en la actividad docente, con el propósito de provocar una mejora en el rendimiento de los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje universitarios que resulte en elevar la calidad y, que influya favorablemente en el rol de desempeño de docentes y alumnos.
