This article explores the symbolic circumstances that can be articulated around Wenceslao's mourning work, contrasting it with her melancholic position. En El Limonero Real (1974) de J. J. Saer, la muerte del hijo, acaecida seis años antes del tiempo de la historia, signa la atmósfera enlutada de la novela. En relación con este acontecimiento, se despliega la oposición entre sus padres, ella y Wenceslao, constituyendo uno de los principios narrativos más patentes de la obra. En este artículo se indagan las circunstancias simbólicas susceptibles de ser articuladas en torno al trabajo del duelo de Wenceslao, en contraposición a la posición melancólica de ella. No livro El Limonero Real (1974) de J. J. Saer, a morte do filho, ocorrida seis anos antes do tempo da história, marca a atmosfera enlutada do romance. Com relação a esse evento, desenvolve-se a oposição entre os pais, ela e Wenceslao, constituindo um dos princípios narrativos mais evidentes da obra. Neste artigo, investigam-se as circunstâncias simbólicas suscetíveis de serem articuladas em torno do trabalho do luto de Wenceslao, em contraposição à posição melancólica dela.
