It focuses on the definition and representation of the main character, while taking into account the voices and gazes as understood in a broad sense, that is, comprising not only the viewpoint of the realist writer, who considers the work as a thesis novel, but also the voice of Marianela herself, with the particular characteristics of her language, and the gazes and discourse of the rest of the characters and the narrator. At the same time, the article highlights the gazes on her body, its misalignments, and its animalisation, as well as the voices that label and, therefore, define her. This article also addresses the representation of Marianela in the eyes of Pablo and the subsequent transformations that she undergoes. En el presente artículo se analizará la construcción del personaje de Marianela en la obra Marianela (1878) de Benito Pérez Galdós. El eje es la definición y constitución de la protagonista a partir de las voces y miradas entendidas en un sentido amplio, es decir, abarcando desde la mirada del escritor realista, que considera la obra como una novela de tesis, hasta la voz de la propia Marianela con las características particulares de su lengua, pasando por las miradas y los discursos de los otros: personajes y narrador. A la vez, se señalarán las miradas sobre su cuerpo, sus desajustes y su animalización, así como las voces que la determinan al nombrarla por la forma en que lo hacen. Asimismo, se trabajará especialmente la constitución de Marianela desde la mirada de Pablo y las transformaciones que esta produce en ella. No presente artigo será analisada a construção da personagem Marianela na obra Marianela (1878) de Benito Pérez Galdós. O eixo é a definição e constituição da protagonista a partir das vozes e olhares entendidos em um sentido amplo, ou seja, que abarcam desde o olhar do escritor realista, que considera a obra como um romance de tese, até a voz da própria Marianela com as características particulares da sua língua, passando pelos olhares e discursos dos outros: personagens e narrador. Ao mesmo tempo, serão salientados os olhares sobre seu corpo, seus desajustes e sua animalização, assim como as vozes que a determinam ao nomeá-la pela forma em que o fazem. Além disso, será trabalhada especialmente a constituição de Marianela a partir do olhar de Pablo e as transformações que este produz nela.
