Contrary to this, there is a question regarding the Aristotelian notions related to it that could survive in contemporary complex societies. Some key political concepts of the Stagirite thinker and also of Marco Tulio Cicero, a Roman author who follows in his footsteps, will be reviewed in order to update the elements that might still be applied to our societies, while others should be left aside. Hand in hand with this, at a time of high apathy in relation to democracy, and a certain anomie caused by an exacerbated individualism, we understand that the question of the existence, actuality and possibilities of civic virtue in the 21st century is a key issue. And, in the event of an affirmative answer to that possibility, it is worth asking ourselves how Aristotelian this virtue would be today.
