The work takes into account the approaches of sensory history to understand and extend the study of the senses and emotions reflected in three works of the thirteenth century, given the fact of predominance in the medieval period of the theme in the choice of the authors. Along with the symbolic aspects, the relevance of the animal and plant world is underlined in the configuration of a sensory landscape that, by expressing emotions through the senses, mainly taste, smell and hearing, promote a positive affectivity that seeks the transcendence conceived as an anthropological ideal. El artículo repasa algunas de las principales fuentes antiguas y las características más salientes del tópico del hortus conclusus para indagar el modo en que se resuelve en la literatura medieval la tensión existente entre una representación altamente regulada desde el punto de vista retórico con la expresión de una experiencia que involucra todos los sentidos y promueve las más variadas emociones en el lector. El trabajo toma en cuenta los planteamientos de la historia sensorial para comprender y extender el estudio de los sentidos y las emociones que se plasman en tres obras del siglo XIII, habida cuenta de que en el período altomedieval se constata un predominio del tema en la elección de los autores. Junto con los aspectos simbólicos, se subraya la relevancia del mundo animal y vegetal en la configuración de un paisaje sensorial que, al expresar emociones mediante los sentidos, principalmente el gusto, el olfato y el oído, promueven una afectividad positiva que busca la trascendencia concebida como ideal antropológico. O artigo revisa algumas das principais fontes antigas e as características mais marcantes do tema hortus conclusus para investigar o modo como a tensão existente entre uma representação altamente regulada do ponto de vista retórico com a expressão de uma experiência que envolve todos os sentidos e promove as mais variadas emoções no leitor. O trabalho leva em conta as abordagens da história sensorial para compreender e ampliar o estudo dos sentidos e emoções refletidos em três obras do século XIII, dado o fato de predominância no período medieval do tema na escolha dos autores. Ao lado dos aspectos simbólicos, a relevância do mundo animal e vegetal é sublinhada na configuração de uma paisagem sensorial que, ao expressar emoções por meio dos sentidos, principalmente paladar, olfato e audição, promove uma afetividade positiva que busca a transcendência concebida como um ideal antropológico.
