The analysis moves between historical and historiographical frameworks, understood as inseparable for a meaningful reflection on the phenomenon. To this end, the article first proposes–by way of an essay–a historical perspective that approaches the event from three distinct yet convergent angles: (a) the dictatorship within the long–term trajectory of twentieth–century Argentine history; (b) the dictatorship in the synchronic context of regional processes; and (c) the dictatorship as a historical rupture. In the second part, the discussion turns to the historiographical contributions that have attempted to interpret this event. Con motivo de los cincuenta años del golpe de Estado del 24 de marzo de 1976 que dio lugar a la última dictadura militar, este artículo se propone leer ese acontecimiento con las claves interpretativas que da la perspectiva histórica del tiempo transcurrido. La observación se moverá entre los andariveles históricos e historiográficos, indisociables para la reflexión sobre el fenómeno. Para ello, en primer lugar y a modo de ensayo, se propone una mirada histórica para pensar el acontecimiento desde tres ángulos distintos pero convergentes: a) la dictadura en la larga duración de la historia argentina del siglo XX; b) la dictadura en la sincronía de los procesos regionales; y c) la dictadura como cesura histórica. En segundo lugar, la mirada vuelve sobre la historiografía que ha tratado de pensar ese acontecimiento.
