Political Debates and Militant Trajectories between the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Rise of Menemism (1989-1992) Notas sobre la crisis del Movimiento al Socialismo. Debates políticos e itinerarios militantes entre la caída del Muro de Berlín y el ascenso del menemismo (1989-1992) López, Rodrigo This article examines the crisis of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) between 1989 and 1992, with the aim of exploring its causes and reconstructing the internal debates that shaped the party during that period. The analysis is structured around three key problem areas that gave meaning to the crisis: interpretations of the evolution of the international political landscape —with particular attention to developments in Eastern Europe—, the characterization of Argentina’s political and social situation in the early 1990s, and the party’s internal organizational regime. We argue that the crisis of MAS can be fundamentally explained by the mismatch between the political perspectives developed around the trajectory of class struggle and the actual course of events, both internationally and nationally, from 1989 onward.
