This text proposes an inquiry into the way in which different authors used this type of metaphor and went even further, using dramatic resources or conceiving the world as theater. Two differentiated traditions are presented: that of a critical theory represented by Marx and Benjamin, and that of social history and historical sociology, with names such as Tilly, Steinberg, Thompson, Zemon Davis and Samuel. This review allows us to postulate the possibility of theatrical approaches that collaborate in the construction of narrative explanations and facilitate new ways of writing history. The article concludes with some examples of the possibilities of application, regarding the historiographical object of the author. En los discursos historiográficos es frecuente el recurso a metáforas teatrales, de tal modo que en la narración de una historia se define un escenario, se identifican actores y se presenta una trama. En este texto se propone una indagación sobre el modo en el cual distintos autores y autoras utilizaron ese tipo de metáforas y fueron incluso más allá, usando recursos dramáticos o concibiendo al mundo como teatro. Se presentan dos tradiciones diferenciadas: la de una teoría crítica representada por Marx y Benjamin, y la de la historia social y la sociología histórica, con nombres como los de Tilly, Steinberg, Thompson, Zemon Davis y Samuel. Ese recorrido permite postular la posibilidad de enfoques teatrales que colaboren en la construcción de explicaciones narrativas y conduzcan a formas renovadas de escritura de la historia. El artículo concluye con algunos ejemplos de las posibilidades de aplicación, a propósito del objeto historiográfico del autor.
