And she is not a Peronist. Nor is she an intransigent militant, a hegemonic faction in the UCR of Córdoba. It is Solange Gorostiaga de Barrera, a woman enrolled in “alvearismo”, daughter of a baker, who has to go down in history as the first democratically elected mayor of Rio Cuarto, and in the first elections in which the Argentine women. What are the keys that lead the radical activist to occupy a seat in a local deliberative body? What role do you assume, as part of the minority bloc? This article aims to advance this first female experience of participation in communal political life, focusing on the performance of Solange Gorostiaga, as the expression of an opposition voice within the framework of a municipal government under the hegemony of triumphant Peronism in the national, provincial and local levels. En 1951 ocurre un acontecimiento singular, y quizás inesperado en los cálculos políticos del momento: en la ciudad de Río Cuarto es elegida, por primera vez, una mujer como integrante del Concejo Deliberante. Y no es una peronista. Tampoco es una militante intransigente, fracción hegemónica en la UCR de Córdoba. Es Solange Gorostiaga de Barrera, una mujer enrolada en el “alvearismo”, hija de un panadero, a quien le toca pasar a la historia como la primera edila riocuartense, democráticamente elegida, y en las primeras elecciones en las que eligen y serán votadas las mujeres argentinas. ¿Cuáles son las claves que conducen a la militante radical a ocupar un asiento en órgano deliberativo local? ¿Qué rol asume, en tanto parte del bloque de la minoría? En este artículo se pretende avanzar en esa primera experiencia femenina de participación en la vida política comunal, haciendo foco en la actuación de Solange Gorostiaga, como la expresión de una voz opositora en el marco de un gobierno municipal bajo la hegemonía del peronismo triunfante en los niveles nacional, provincial y local.
