Sumario:In this paper of theoretical reflection, a series of arguments are grouped for the analysis of the tensions that occur during the development of chronic diseases in men and how these would condition their gender identity and demonstration. The text is structured in three sections: the first addresses the social construction of gender and masculinities, the second discusses the relationships between men, health and suffering, and the last discusses possible tensions in the exercise of masculinities. facing a long-term condition in men, considering them subjects suffering from the far-reaching experience that a chronic illness represents. In that sense, it is considered that the male sufferer faces conditioning in the demonstration of his manhood during his suffering path. Finally, it is concluded that it is necessary to continue contributing theoretically and empirically to this type of discussions to better understand the way in which gender and conditions affect each other.
