In this article we will work on the particularities of the Yazidi religion in relation to its beliefs and its social organization. We will pay special attention to those religious issues that were misunderstood by their Muslim and Christian neighbors, which made them particularly vulnerable to the attacks of Daesh from 2014. Among their beliefs there is a misinterpretation of their main religious figure, the Peacock Angel (Malak Tawús) and his erroneous identification with the devil of the Abrahamic traditions. We will see how his caste system with the inbreeding practices that accompany it, favored the isolation of the group, which was used by Daesh to advance on their land, their assets and their women and children. Los yazidíes son una minoría religiosa kurda que no fue islamizada, lo que la diferencia y distancia del resto de los kurdos. En este artículo trabajaremos las particularidades de la religión yazidí en relación a sus creencias y a su organización social. Prestaremos especial atención a aquellas cuestiones religiosas que fueron malentendidas por sus vecinos musulmanes y cristianos, lo que los volvió particularmente vulnerables a los ataques de Daesh a partir de 2014. Entre las mismas se encuentra la malinterpretación de su figura principal, el Ángel Pavorreal (Malak Tawús) y su errónea identificación con el diablo de las tradiciones abrahámicas. Veremos cómo su sistema de castas con las prácticas endogámicas que lo acompañan, favoreció el aislamiento del grupo, lo que fue aprovechado por Daesh para avanzar sobre su tierra, sus bienes y sus mujeres y niños.
