Soil samples with different doses of vinasse were incubated in the laboratory under controlled humidity and temperature conditions to study vinasse breakdown in five representative soils of the sugarcane-growing area of Uruguay. Vinasse was applied at the following rates: 0 (control treatment), 125, 250, and 375 m3 ha-1 . The evolution of pH, EC, available P, and mineral N in soil samples was measured 14 and 180 d after the start of the experiment. The microbial respiration rate was determined by measuring CO2 production for 140 days. No changes in pH or P were observed after 180 days of incubation. Respiration rate was increased by vinasse addition and differed significantly (p < 0.0001) between soils until the 20th day of the experimental period, after which no differences were observed between soils. N mineralization varied among soils in the experiment. According to our results, 180 days of incubation are insufficient for complete mineralization of vinasse. |

Se realizó una incubación de suelo con agregado de vinaza en condiciones controladas de laboratorio (humedad y temperatura), con el fin de estudiar la descomposición de la vinaza en cinco suelos representativos del área cultivada con caña de azúcar en el Uruguay. Se utilizaron tres dosis de vinaza, equivalentes a 125, 250 y 375 m3 ha-1 y un testigo sin vinaza, para evaluar la evolución de los parámetros químicos pH, CE, P disponible y N mineral. Los muestreos de suelo se realizaron a los 14 y 180 días de iniciado el experimento. Además, se determinó la tasa de respiración microbiana midiendo la producción de CO2 durante 140 días. La vinaza no produjo cambios significativos en el pH ni en el P disponible luego de 180 días de incubación. Se observaron diferencias significativas entre suelos en las tasas de respiración, las cuales se incrementaron con la aplicación de vinaza, no mostrando diferencias entre suelos del día 20 en adelante. En cuanto a la mineralización de N, su tasa fue variable en los suelos del experimento y en la mayoría de los casos, la vinaza fue insuficiente en su aporte de N como sustrato para la actividad microbiana. Foi realizada uma incubação de amostras de solo com a adição de vinhaça em condições controladas de laboratório (umidade e temperatura), com a finalidade de estudar a decomposição da vinhaça em cinco solos representativos da área cultivada com cana-de-açúcar no Uruguai. Este trabalho procura promover a reciclagem de nutrientes através da reutilização da vinhaça, reduzindo o impacto ambiental num sistema de economia circular. Foram utilizadas três doses de vinhaça, equivalentes a 125, 250 e 375 m3 ha-1, e uma testemunha sem vinhaça, para avaliar a evolução dos parâmetros químicos pH, CE (condutividade elétrica), P disponível e N mineral. A amostragem de solo foi realizada aos 14 e 180 dias após o início do experimento. Além disso, determinou-se a taxa de respiração microbiana, através da medição da produção de CO2 durante 140 dias. A vinhaça não determinou alterações significativas no pH e no P após 180 dias de incubação. Foram observadas diferenças significativas (p < 0.0001) nas taxas de respiração basal entre solos, que incrementaram com a aplicação de vinhaça, embora a partir do dia 20 não foram observadas diferenças entre solos. Quanto à mineralização do N, sua taxa foi variável nos solos do experimento e na maioria dos casos. Nos tratamentos com vinhaça conclui-se que 180 dias de incubação foram insuficientes para uma completa mineralização do material.
