description This study analyzes the changes that have occurred in the Cuenca del Salado in the last twenty years in a context of transformations for the Pampean agricultural sector. The work was based on secondary sources of information and interviews with key informants, taking the Partido de Las Flores as a case study. The results show differences in the productive dynamics of the area under study, with respect to other subregions of the humid pampa. From the analysis of the information, it appears that the number of productive units is maintained in the period analyzed, even with an increase in the smallest ones, posing a divergent process to the rest of the Pampean Region. The causes of these differences are associated with bovine farming as the predominant productive activity, the technological model that supports it and the impossibility of developing concentrated capital. The characteristics of this subregion have, at least partially, slowed down the capital intensive technological model and the development of economies of scale, so that family production systems continue to operate based on cattle farming and family work.

Este estudio analiza los cambios ocurridos en la Cuenca del Salado, en los últimos veinte años en un contexto de transformaciones para el sector agropecuario pampeano. El trabajo se basó en fuentes secundarias de información y entrevistas a informantes clave, tomando el Partido de Las Flores como estudio de caso. Los resultados presentan diferencias en las dinámicas productivas de la zona bajo estudio, con respecto a otras subregiones de la pampa húmeda. Del análisis de la información se desprende que el número de unidades productivas se mantiene en el periodo analizado, incluso con un aumento de las más pequeñas, planteando un proceso divergente al resto de la Región Pampeana. Las causales de estas diferencias se asocian a la cría bovina como actividad productiva predominante, el modelo tecnológico que la sostiene y la imposibilidad de desarrollo del capital concentrado. Las características de esta subregión han frenado, al menos parcialmente, el modelo tecnológico capital intensivo y el desarrollo de economías de escala, por lo que los sistemas productivos familiares continúan vigentes con base en la ganadería vacuna y el trabajo familiar. Este estudo analisa as mudanças ocorridas na “Cuenca del Salado” nos últimos vinte anos em um contexto de transformações para o setor agropecuário pampeano. O trabalho foi baseado em fontes secundárias de informação e entrevistas com informantes-chave, tomando o “Partido de Las Flores” como um estudo de caso. Os resultados mostram diferenças na dinâmica produtiva da área estudada em relação a outras sub-regiões do pampa úmido. A partir da análise das informações, pode-se deduzir que o número de unidades produtivas se mantém no período analisado, mesmo com aumento nas menores, configurando um processo que diverge do restante da Região Pampeana. As causas dessas diferenças estão associadas à pecuária bovina como atividade produtiva predominante, ao modelo tecnológico que a sustenta e à impossibilidade de desenvolver capital concentrado. As características desta sub-região desaceleraram, ao menos parcialmente, o modelo tecnológico intensivo em capital e o desenvolvimento de economias de escala, de modo que os sistemas de produção familiar continuam vigentes com base na pecuária e no trabalho familiar.
