Its main purpose is to contribute to the teaching of writing practices typical of the discipline of Social Work, with a focus on the social report. As a starting point, we take up a didactic problem that professional training is experiencing in some Argentine universities: the scarce theoretical production regarding any of the discursive genres linked to Social Work and the consequent confusion between academic training texts, specialists and of professionals. In addition, the article delves into the social report as a discursive genre, from a didactic perspective, understanding that teaching how to write this type of text is central to the professional development of Social Work. In conclusion, it can be deduced from the article that the discursive knowledge of a large part of the Social Work teaching body is exhaustive, but scarcely formalized in theoretical/disciplinary productions: making it explicit allows the design of didactic mechanisms that have an impact on the improvement of social work practices.
