Thus, the stages experienced during the process in the year 2020, which was crossed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficult conditions of connectivity for rural education in Colombia, are described. The phases of planning, management, implementation and systematization of the experience are presented, highlighting the roles of management and social pedagogy as key components of Social Work in the field of social appropriation of knowledge, particularly in complex educational contexts. Finally, some opportunities for reflection and action of the profession in the Colombian context are proposed. El presente artículo propone una reflexión sobre el papel del Trabajo Social contemporáneo en escenarios de apropiación social del conocimiento científico basada en la experiencia del programa Investigadores por Naturaleza, apuesta de promoción de ciencia e investigación con niños, niñas y jóvenes escolares rurales en la zona de influencia del páramo de Santurbán, en Santander, Colombia. Así, se describen las etapas vividas durante el proceso en el año 2020 que estuvo atravesado por la pandemia de COVID-19 y las difíciles condiciones de conectividad para la educación rural colombiana. Se presentan las fases de: planeación, gestión, implementación y sistematización de la experiencia, resaltando los roles de gestión y pedagogía social como componentes claves del Trabajo Social en el ámbito de apropiación social del conocimiento, particularmente en contextos educativos complejos.
