We will tell its history, its formalization as a substitutive device to the logic of the asylum and we’ll pay special attention to the voice of the coordinators and the users. At the same time, the work itself is questioned concerning the possibilities offered by this alternative device to users who have been hospitalized for a long time. El presente trabajo aborda las características que presenta un espacio laboral con miras a hacer lugar al derecho al trabajo, como parte del proceso de externación de usuarias de la salud mental. Para ello se recurre a su historia, a su formalización como dispositivo sustitutivo a la lógica manicomial, a la voz de las coordinadoras y especialmente de las usuarias. A su vez se pregunta por el lugar que tiene el trabajo, a partir de la posibilidad que brinda este dispositivo sustitutivo, para las usuarias que han estado internadas por un tiempo prolongado.
