This paper analyzes the intergenerational transformations occuringwithin gender relations and representations in the upwardly mobiletrajectories of families whose female members have broadened theirworking and educational opportunities. The study seeks to contributeto an account of the process of the configuration of new family modelsand mandates, divisions of domestic chores and responsibilities, andof notions about care work and lesiure time. To that end, in this paperI identify the articulations between the experiences of upward socialmobility and the redefinitions and appropriations that occur within thehome, starting from the incorporation of new resources. Additionally, theweb of negotiations is untangled, such as the strategies deployed by thewomen with the aim of favouring the development of more egalitarianand democratic gender relations in contrast with the traditional modelsinternalized within the family of origin. El artículo analiza las transformaciones intergeneracionales ocurridasen las imágenes y relaciones de género en trayectorias familiares deascenso social,en donde las mujeres mejoran sus condiciones devida, aumentando sus oportunidades laborales y educativas. El trabajopretende contribuir a dar cuenta del proceso de conformación denuevos modelos y mandatos familiares, división de responsabilidadesdomésticas, y de concepciones sobre el cuidado y el tiempo de ocio.Para ello, se identifica las articulaciones entre las experiencias demovilidad social ascendente y las redefiniciones, y apropiaciones quetienen lugar en los hogares a partir de la incorporación de nuevosrecursos. Asimismo, se despliega la trama de negociaciones como deestrategias llevadas a cabo por las mujeres con el propósito de propiciarrelaciones de género más igualitarias y democráticas en relación a losmodelos tradicionales internalizados en la familia de origen.
