In this context, both the deficits in labor, salary and contractual conditions were evidenced, as well as the difficulties of the nursing staff to express their discontent through formal channels of representation. The article proposes to investigate the ways that nurses found to channel their claims, to know their perceptions about the actions of the unions and to understand the reasons why the sectoral union structure is not representative of the occupation. It seeks to provide an overview at the national level and deepen the analysis for the case of the City of Mar del Plata, where an intense and extended conflict developed during 2020 and 2021 driven by "Self-convoked Nurses", which made visible the disagreement regarding representation unions at the local level and the dissociation between the general demands of the sector and those specific to nursing. The study is part of a mixed methodology that combines data from the MTEySS Labor Conflict Database with primary data from a national online survey and in-depth interviews with nursing staff.
