| Sumario: | The immigration policies developed by local governments are crucial for identifying disputes over the exercise of rights and access to social and political citizenship facilitated by these governments. In this article, we analyze the immigration policies implemented by the municipality of Córdoba during the 2019-2023 government period, with a focus on the integration of the migrant population into the city. We examine the connection between these policies and the city's process of internationalization. Additionally, we recover the work carried out with the city's collectives in previous government periods.
Through a qualitative methodology centered on the review of archives, social networks, public documents, and international organizations, along with interviews with key officials, we reconstruct the meanings attributed by the municipal administration to the policies directed at the migrant population. We emphasize those policies oriented towards cultural integration, which include a specific participation mechanism, as well as policies related to labor inclusion. Finally, we analyze a specific action linked to voter registration for the 2023 municipal elections. In this regard, we explore the possibilities of this action to open the door to a more consolidated political participation. |
