This also means being able to think about relationships. In that sense, this article will be about a possible way of re-reading Pier Paolo Pasolini's Roman Chronicles—written between the years 50s ans 65s—, compiled in Storie della città di Dio, in which the writer puts in scene his first and decisive fascination for the Roman reality, especially for the sub-proletariat, based on Cristian Alarcón's chronicles about the slums. According to the peculiarities of each of those writings, we will be based on the following questions: How are the Roman hovels narrated in Pasolini's literature and the slums from Buenos Aires in Alarcón's literature? Which experience with/of the otherness are shaped in those textualities? Which is the role or place that the writer gets in the narration of those experiences? Estudiar e investigar un tema, aspecto o problemática de la literatura europea desde el Cono Sur de América Latina implica estar atento a un conjunto de presupuestos teóricos, históricos, sociales y políticos (incluso económicos) concernientes a ambas literaturas. Es, también, poder pensar relaciones. En ese sentido, este artículo versará sobre una posible manera de (re) leer las crónicas romanas de Pier Paolo Pasolini—escritas entre los años ´50 y ´65—, recopiladas en Storie della città di Dio, en las que el escritor pone en escena su primera y determinante fascinación por la realidad romana, especialmente por el subproletariado, a partir de las crónicas sobre la villa de Cristian Alarcón. Atendiendo a las particularidades de cada una de esas escrituras, partiremos de las siguientes preguntas: ¿cómo se narran los tugurios romanos en Pasolini y la villa porteña en Alarcón? ¿Qué experiencia con/ de la otredad se configuran en esas textualidades? ¿Y qué papel o lugar adquiere la figura del escritor en las narraciones de esas experiencias?
