Its conservation allows to obtain relationships that would be lost when the space where the remains of the past were thrown, was altered. However, it has been considered more an empirical reality, than a theoretical concept, and much less has it been the subject of reflection in the field of urban archeology. In a dynamic and complex panorama such as the city, the context of deposition is more than a space or soil, since interpretation of findings depends on its analysis. Therefore, that´s an starting point to do archeology, since fragments are linked both to their archaeological space and to the society that gave rise and after discarded those remains. Due its importance, the objective of this work is to think over the context of deposition within urban archeology, proposing it as an operational concept. El contexto de deposición es un tópico que suele mencionarse con frecuencia, como entidad que da sentido al registro arqueológico. Su conservación permite la obtención de relaciones que se perderían al alterarse el espacio donde los restos del pasado fueran arrojados. Sin embargo, se lo ha considerado como una realidad empírica y no como un concepto teórico ymucho menos ha sido objeto de una reflexión en el campo de la arqueología urbana. En un panorama dinámico y complejo como es la ciudad, el contexto de deposición es más que un espacio o el suelo, ya que de su análisis depende la interpretación de los hallazgos. Por lo tanto, implica un punto de partida en el hacer arqueología, ya que los fragmentos están vinculados tanto a su espacio arqueológico y como a la sociedad que les dio origen y los descartó.  Dada su importancia, el objetivo de este trabajo es reflexionar sobre el contexto de deposición dentro de la arqueología urbana, proponiéndolo como un concepto operativo. O contexto de deposição é um tema frequentemente mencionado, como entidade que dá sentido ao registo arqueológico. A sua conservação permite obter relações que se perderiam quando o espaço onde foram lançados os vestígios do passado fosse alterado. No entanto, tem sido considerada mais uma realidade empírica do que um conceito teórico, e muito menos tem sido objeto de reflexão no campo da arqueologia urbana. Num panorama dinâmico e complexo como o da cidade, o contexto de deposição é mais do que um espaço ou um solo, uma vez que a interpretação dos achados depende da sua análise.
