The enhancement of it allowed, on the one hand, to assign the individuals to the republican period (XIX-XX century) and, on the other, to contribute knowledge about the social practices, health status and lifestyle of the people buried in the site. Likewise, the packaging conditions of the human remains under study were improved through the implementation of a preventive conservation protocol that advocates their ethical management, together with the generation of a protective context. To do this, we start from a triple approach that articulates bioarchaeological studies, funeral practices and historical analyzes. The analyzed sample is represented by five individuals, two of them of undetermined sex, two female individuals and one male, covering a wide age range (from infants to the elderly). They show signs of metabolic, infectious and functional diseases. La presente investigación se basa en la revalorización de una colección humana hallada en el sitio San José del monte de los Lules (Tucumán, Argentina), que quedóbajo el resguardo del Instituto de Arqueología y Museodesde el año 2001 hasta la actualidad. La puesta en valor de la misma permitió, por un lado, asignar los individuos al periodo republicano (siglo XIX-XX) y, por otro, aportar conocimientos sobre las prácticas sociales, estado sanitario y estilo de vida de las personas inhumadas en el sitio.Asimismo, se mejoraron las condiciones de embalaje de los restos humanos bajo estudio mediante la implementación de un protocolo de conservación preventiva que aboga por su manejo ético,junto con, la generación de un contexto protector. Para ello se parte de una triple aproximación que articula los estudios bioarqueológicos, las prácticas funerarias y los análisis históricos. La muestra analizada está representada por cinco individuos, dos de ellos de sexo indeterminado, dosindividuos femeninos y uno masculino,que abarcan un rango etario amplio(desde infanteshasta adultos mayores). Los mismosexhiben señales de enfermedades metabólicas, infecciosas y funcionales.
