This happens in the political context of the rise of Rafael Correa in 2007, in parallel with the last years of President Alvaro Uribe exercise that was succeeded by Juan Manuel Santos, since 2010. Este trabajo pretende analizar la compleja situación de la región fronteriza compartida por Colombia y Ecuador y cómo cada uno de sus respectivos gobiernos comprendidos en el período 2007-2013, han intentado responder a cuestiones socio-económicas y políticas, conformando una agenda de seguridad, e implementar un sistema de cooperación bilateral. Esto ocurre en el contexto político del ascenso al poder de Rafael Correa en el año 2007, paralelamente a los últimos años de ejercicio presidencial de Álvaro Uribe quien fuera sucedido por Juan Manuel Santos, desde el año 2010.
