El artículo aborda algunas constantes históricas en la política exterior italiana y los hechos políticos que tuvieron lugar en la escena nacional italiana durante los años que van del 2011 al 2015 relacionándolos con las políticas regionales en el seno de la Unión Europea. La necesidad de coordinar las políticas internas - reformas sociales, políticas y económicas - con las políticas comunitarias marca la agenda del actual gobierno de Renzi y el rumbo de la política internacional italiana.
