Following the 2008 financial crisis and the rise of China, Washington has progressively reformulated its strategies, assigning a central role to the maritime domain as a key axis of its global and regional projection. The paper examines how recent U.S. security strategies have combined traditional and non-traditional elements, and how the maritime dimension has become a critical instrument in the context of growing interstate rivalry and the consolidation of spheres of influence. The analysis is based on official documents and specialized literature and adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to trace key transformations and continuities in U.S. policy.
