However, it wasn't until the international financial crisis of 2008 that they found opportunities to advocate for a reform of the traditional Bretton Woods institutions and consolidate their power within the International Financial Architecture (IFA). Consequently, this study starts from the assumption that the creation of the New Development Bank (NDB) is part of a strategy by the BRICS to strengthen their position in the IFA and accelerate its reconfiguration. The 2008 financial crisis marked a turning point in exacerbating these changes. Therefore, the object of the research is to analyze the role of the BRICS within the post-2008 IFA. A comienzos del nuevo siglo, los países del grupo BRICS se perfilaban como potencias emergentes y se asomaba un incipiente cambio de dinamismo económico internacional. No obstante, recién con la crisis financiera internacional del 2008 encuentran espacios para abogar por una reforma de las instituciones tradicionales de Bretton Woods y consolidar su poder dentro de la Arquitectura Financiera Internacional (AFI). Por consiguiente, este trabajo parte del supuesto de que la creación del Nuevo Banco de Desarrollo (NBD) forma parte de una estrategia de los BRICS para fortalecer su posición en la AFI y acelerar su reconfiguración. La crisis financiera del 2008 supuso un punto de inflexión para exacerbar dichos cambios. A razón de ello, el objeto de la investigación es analizar el rol de los BRICS dentro la AFI post crisis 2008.
