The study was carried out from June 1, 2019, to December 31, 2021, and includes a review of projects and programs financed by US cooperation to the justice sector institutions in El Salvador. For the systematic approach to the research, a qualitative methodology has been applied based on interviews with seven government institutions, as well as a documentary review that allows the analysis of the perspective of the different actors involved. The results obtained allow characterizing existing conditions in the organization chart of the Justice Sector and reveal potentialities and challenges in the management of international cooperation. The study proposes improvements in technical and administrative management within the pertinent institutions and greater transparency in the areas to which support has been provided, making possible to identify areas of priorization for the cooperation flows granted. En el presente artículo se exploran las áreas de apoyo de la cooperación internacional de los Estados Unidos de América en el fortalecimiento del Sector Justicia en El Salvador. El estudio se ha llevado a cabo del 1 de junio de 2019 al 31 de diciembre de 2021 y comprende una revisión de proyectos y programas financiados por la cooperación estadounidense a instituciones comprendidas en el Sector Justicia salvadoreño. Para el abordaje sistemático de la investigación, se ha aplicado una metodología cualitativa a partir de entrevistas dirigidas a siete instituciones gubernamentales, así como una revisión documental que permite el análisis de la perspectiva de distintos actores involucrados. Los resultados obtenidos permiten caracterizar condiciones existentes en el organigrama del sector justicia y revelan potencialidades y desafíos en la gestión de la cooperación internacional.
