Sumario:The objective of this study is to understand the relationship between anxiety toward learning English as a foreign language and oral proficiency in public technical secondary school students. The study is framed within the quantitative approach of correlational level, non-experimental design and cross-sectional. The instruments used were: the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire and the grade record. The sample consisted of 44 students from 4th and 5th grade of secondary school specializing in Administration and Commerce in the city of Lima, Peru. The results obtained through the Spearman's Rho correlational analysis indicate a Sig. p. significance value = 0.000 < 0.01; therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative is accepted, with a correlation index of Rho = -0.663 between the two variables. Consequently, there is a strong negative correlation between the two variables, therefore, it is concluded that there is a significant correlation between anxiety toward learning English as a foreign language and oral proficiency in public technical secondary school students.
