This research aimed to analyze students in three mathematics courses from the core curriculum of a private university in Ecuador to identify possible relationships between MA and various sociodemographic variables. The study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational scope, employing a specifically survey designed and validated by López-Chao et al. (2020). This survey was given to 65 students among three courses. The study found that MA levels were independent of gender, age, type of school and twon of origin, showing an association only with  the academic domain variable, represented by students´ career paths. In this context, the findings provide an initial foundation for further investigation into the characteristics of MA  in students beginning their college studies. Given the observed association, it is recommended to address students´ emotional factors, as these impact learning, and to tailor mathematics courses to align with the training requirements specific to each academic field.
