The fundamental theoretical framework of this study is the values education model of the GREM (Moral Education Research Group) of the University of Barcelona, and the Latin American ethical framework of Enrique Dussel. The methodology used is a three-phase needs detection analysis: recognition, diagnosis and decision making. This study is based on the fact that, at present, Chilean education has aims directed towards economic productivity and an integral, value and ethical sense does not go beyond the discourses declared in the educational laws. The results show that 80% of teachers did not receive training in ethics or values education, and have a lack of knowledge of more than 50% in most of the values education methodologies consulted. Based on this, a concrete proposal for intervention in four ethical competencies is proposed. This intervention proposal has a Latin American ethical perspective, based on the recognition of otherness, and elaborated on the basis of the GREM model of moral personality development and the environment. The conclusions highlight the importance of developing the proposal offered by this study, both for teachers, management teams and education professionals in general. El objetivo de esta investigación es evaluar y detectar necesidades referidas a competencias éticas y a competencias en el área de educación en valores en el profesorado chileno. El marco teórico fundamental de este estudio es el modelo de educación en valores del GREM (Grupo de Investigación en Educación Moral) de la Universidad de Barcelona, y el marco ético latinoamericano de Enrique Dussel. La metodología utilizada es un análisis de detección de necesidades en tres fases: reconocimiento, diagnóstico y toma de decisiones. Este estudio se sustenta porque, actualmente, la educación chilena posee fines dirigidos hacia una productividad económica y un sentido valórico y ético no traspasa los discursos declarados en las leyes educativas. Los resultados mostrarán que un 80% del profesorado no recibió formación en educación ética o en valores, y que poseen un desconocimiento de más de un 50% en la mayoría de las metodologías de educación en valores consultadas. Se plantea, a partir de esto, una propuesta concreta de intervención formada por cuatro competencias éticas. Esta propuesta de intervención posee una perspectiva ética latinoamericana, basada en el reconocimiento de la alteridad, y es elaborada con una base proveniente del modelo de desarrollo de la personalidad moral y del medio del GREM. En las conclusiones resalta la importancia de desarrollar la propuesta que ofrece este estudio, tanto por docentes, como equipos directivos y profesionales de la educación en general.
