We are interested in addressing the process of creating schools in the game of tensions between the progressive expansion and diversification with the selective matrix that the secondary school had from its origins. For this we differentiate two dimensions, the territorialization and the conformation of the private and public circuits. At first, the process of expansion is presented from the creation of schools in the different historical periods conceived according to socio-economic and political criteria. In a second moment, its location in the urban space and the possible "place effects" (Bourdieu, 2003), a configuring dimension of educational fragmentation. Finally, some implications of this extensive process are discussed around the broader research problem that focuses on the study of socio-educational inequalities from the educational circuits that the students of a Pampas city pass through.
