At the same time, it tries to open up to new audiences and a broader sector of society so they can use and enjoy these institutions, where their experience occupies a priority place. This is at least the objective pursued by some of the museums today - based on different educational and communicational strategies - and which, however, not all achieve or do in the same way. At the same time, we are interested in thinking here, what place young people occupy within this process, how museums think about them, what place they occupy in these institutions and how they perceive them. To try to answer these questions, is why the present investigation born and the focus is on the different strategies and educational proposals of museums to carry out and achieve these objectives taking for case the National Museum of Art from Mexico City. Actualmente, los museos se encuentran en un proceso de reconversión de su identidad y su función social en el que intentan moverse del lugar de “templos del saber” para convertirse en espacios permeables a las distintas problemáticas de la actualidad, en consonancia con las demandas de la sociedad que lo rodea. Al mismo tiempo, se intenta abrir a nuevos públicos y a un sector más amplio para que estos puedan hacer un uso y disfrute de estas instituciones, donde su experiencia allí ocupe un lugar prioritario. Este es, por lo menos, el objetivo que persiguen algunos de los museos hoy en día —a partir de distintas estrategias educativas y comunicacionales— y que, sin embargo, no todos logran ni lo hacen de la misma manera. A su vez, nos interesa pensar aquí qué lugar ocupan las y los jóvenes dentro de este proceso, cómo los piensan los museos, qué lugar tienen en estas instituciones y cómo ellos las perciben. Para intentar dar respuesta a estos interrogantes es que surge la presente investigación, donde el foco se encuentra en las distintas estrategias y propuestas educativas de los museos para llevar adelante y alcanzar estos objetivos, tomando como caso de estudio al Museo Nacional de Arte de la Ciudad de México.
