Based on the analysis of fieldwork records from two CENS, different characteristics are attributed to students, according to which young people find it easier to understand the contents and instructions compared to their adult peers. It is argued that these age-based distinctions, although presented as generalizations that do not always align with specific cases, are linked to negative perceptions of these educational centers, shaping particular experiences of navigating secondary education in such institutions El artículo indaga desde un enfoque socioantropológico sobre las experiencias de asistir a la educación secundaria para jóvenes y adultos, específicamente a Centros Educativos de Nivel Secundario (CENS) de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA). A partir del análisis de registros de trabajo de campo en dos CENS, se presentan distintas características atribuidas a los/as estudiantes según las cuales los/as jóvenes tienen mayor facilidad para comprender los contenidos y consignas en comparación con sus pares adultos/as. Se sostiene que estas caracterizaciones diferenciales según la edad, si bien se presentan como generalizaciones que no siempre se corresponden con los casos concretos, guardan relación con valoraciones negativas acerca de los centros educativos que condicionan a experiencias particulares de transitar el nivel secundario en dichas instituciones Resumo O artigo indaga, a partir de uma abordagem socioantropológica, a experiência dos jovens e adultos ao frequentar o ensino médio, especificamente em Centros Educativos de Ensino Médio (CENS) da Cidade Autônoma de Buenos Aires (CABA). A partir da análise dos registros do trabalho de campo em dois CENS, são apresentadas diferentes características atribuídas aos/as estudantes, de acordo com as quais os/as jovens têm maior facilidade para compreender os conteúdos e instruções em comparação com seus colegas adultos/as. Afirma-se que essas caracterizações diferenciais de acordo com a idade, embora sejam apresentadas como generalizações que nem sempre correspondem aos casos concretos, estão relacionadas com avaliações negativas com respeito aos centros educativos, que condicionam as experiências individuais de cursar o ensino médio nessas instituições.   Palavras-chave: jovens, adultos/as, caracterizações, experiências, Centros Educativos de Ensino Médio.
