Moreover, in the last years of Victoria's life, Bordelois was far away, in the United States, doing her PhD at MIT. However, over time and from a distance, she kept admiring more and more the fluidity of V.O.'s style and began to regret not having treated her so personally. In this interview, she tells how she came up with the idea for her recent book Victoria. Paredón y después (2021), a true vindication of V.O.'s talent as a writer and portraitist. Ivonne Bordelois se acercó a la redacción de Sur por una invitación de José Bianco, que buscaba sumar gente joven a la revista. A partir de ese momento, se hizo muy amiga de él y de Enrique Pezzoni, y conoció a Victoria Ocampo, aunque su relación no fue muy cercana, según ella misma dice, “porque no se le animó”. Además, en los últimos años de vida de Victoria, Bordelois se encontraba lejos, en los Estados Unidos, haciendo su Doctorado en MIT. Sin embargo, con el tiempo y a la distancia, siguió admirando cada vez más la fluidez del estilo de V.O y empezó a arrepentirse de no haberla tratado tanto personalmente.
