Published in 2016, the book represented a critical return to Saer's work and a privileged occasion to return to practice an analysis of the literary field in which said work was established and was acquiring, over the years, a definitive centrality. Likewise, the self—referential bias of Saer's writing at times brings out the other side of an integral and formalist reading: scenes in which the essayist herself is not so much the great promoter of Saer's entry into posterity as the devoted reader who awaits each new novel as one who seeks to meet again with fictitious characters whose vicissitudes accompanied the reader's own life. El presente trabajo se propone realizar una lectura pormenorizada del libro Zona Saer, de la ensayista y crítica literaria Beatriz Sarlo, una de las más firmes defensoras del valor literario de la obra de Juan José Saer en la literatura argentina. Publicado en 2016, el libro supuso un regreso crítico a la obra de Saer y una ocasión privilegiada para volver a practicar un análisis del campo literario en la que dicha obra se estableció y fue adquiriendo, con los años, una centralidad definitiva. Sin embargo, el sesgo autorreferencial de la escritura sarliana hace emerger, por momentos, el otro lado de una lectura integral y formalista: escenas en donde Sarlo no es tanto la gran promotora de la entrada a la posteridad de Saer, sino una lectora devota que espera cada nueva novela suya y busca reencontrarse con personajes cuyas peripecias acompañaron la propia vida de quien lee.
