By exploring the novel’s intertextual dimension, the current proposal suggests that Diaconú approaches in this work the topic of the exile in ways that surpass the dichotomies of binary thinking, typical of the Cold War, as the novel extracts its substance from the Heraclitean thinking. A partir de la premisa de que la novela El penúltimo viaje de Alina Diaconú alberga tres niveles posibles de lectura —biográfico, político y existencial— el presente artículo propone un acercamiento que subraya la consustancialidad entre el formato estructural y la temática del exilio. Teniendo en cuenta el armazón intertextual de la novela, nuestra propuesta plantea que el tratamiento dado a la problemática del exilio permitiría superar las dicotomías del pensamiento binario típico de la Guerra fría, al acudir al pensamiento heraclíteo.
