First, I briefly introduce the implications of queer theory and thetransgender phenomena, from an interdisciplinary perspective. Then, the notions ofthe body proposed by Halberstam provide a reference for the cultural constructionof the hybrid or monstrous body, in this specific case, linked to the transgender body.Finally, Ahmed’s critical speculation regarding the political implications of beinghappy reminds us how certain bodies have been systematically excluded from thescripts of happiness. El presente artículo explora el significado cultural del cuerpo transgénero en la película chilena Una mujer fantástica desde una perspectiva de los Estudios Queer. Si bien éste no es un ensayo sobre teoría, se discuten problemáticas presentes en la película bajo conceptos de las autoras Jack Halberstam (Skin Shows) y Sara Ahmed. Primero, se introducen brevemente las implicancias de la teoría queer y el fenómeno transgénero, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria. Luego, las nociones del cuerpo propuestas por Halberstam sirven como un referente en torno a la construcción cultural del cuerpo híbrido o monstruoso, en este caso específico, vinculado al cuerpo transgénero. Finalmente, la especulación crítica que elabora Ahmed sobre las implicaciones políticas de lo que significa ser feliz nos recuerda que ciertos cuerpos han sido excluidos sistemáticamente de los guiones de la felicidad.
