The feminine fantastic differs from the andocentric fantastic literature by relating the theories of gender to the ones of the fantastic literature. This way, the feminine fantastic reflects upon the feminist criticism, its relation with power, the construction/reconstruction of female characters, and its multiple identity components and the role of submission imposed by the patriarchal society on women. The work of María Elena Llana enables the discussion of these questions, especially when she creates female characters who question their own identity and the social roles that designate women to the private spaces instead of public ones. Through this questioning, these female characters establish a new order for their lives that helps them break with the imposed stereotypical patterns of behavior in order to achieve a place and voice in society. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o fantástico feminino nos contos da escritora cubana María Elena Llana, publicados no livro De pájaros invisibles y otros cuentos (2009). O fantástico feminino se diferencia da literatura fantástica androcêntrica por relacionar as teorias de gênero às do fantástico. Dessa forma, reflete sobre a crítica feminista, sua relação com o poder; a construção/reconstrução das personagens femininas e seus múltiplos constituintes de identidade e o papel de submissão imposto pela sociedade patriarcal às mulheres. A obra de Maria Elena Llana permite discutir essas questões especialmente quando cria personagens femininos que questionam sua identidade e os papéis sociais que lhe designam os espaços privados em detrimento dos públicos e, com tal questionamento, instauram uma nova ordem para suas vidas que lhes ajuda a romper com os estereotipados padrões de conduta impostos para alcançar lugar e voz na sociedade.
