Translation in Derrida operates as a matrix of thought, because it serves as an etymological point of departure and as a possibility of word-association, and as a medium, because he writes and thinks in more than one language, when it subjects a concept to criticism and follows its significant routes in several languages. At a deeper level, Derrida's theory, since 1967, presents writing as the field of a generalized drift of the senses to which translation is consubstantial as a survival of the text and as an inter-language working space. El trabajo recorre algunos textos fundamentales de Derrida para rastrear en ellos una teoría de la traducción. Aunque Derrida tiene sólo dos artículos dedicados específicamente al tema, todo su modo de pensar el lenguaje parte de una concepción profunda de la labor traductora como inherente al lenguaje mismo, como experiencia de habitar la lengua. La traducción en Derrida opera como matriz del pensamiento, porque le sirve como punto de partida etimológico, como posibilidad de asociación de palabras, y como medio, porque escribe y piensa en más de una lengua, cuando somete a crítica un concepto y sigue sus derroteros significantes en varios idiomas. A un nivel más profundo, la teoría de Derrida, desde 1967, presenta a la escritura como el campo de una deriva generalizada de los sentidos a la que la traducción es consustancial como sobrevida del texto y como espacio de funcionamiento de una entre-lengua.
