This prejudice that leads to police intervention in the life of Afro- Cubans, is brought out in the framework of the symbolization of the imaginary of a unified nation, without racial contrasts, and of the continuum of a totalitarian State. Criminalization comes from a colonial root. It combines social control and culture. The first uses old colonial constructions of the social hierarchy. The second maintains those postcolonial forms between its naturalization and the onslaught of the fight for equality.
