It shows that the uribismo has evolved in time, suffering simultaneously a narrowing of its electoral base and a gradual misalignment of its original coalition, which have made it more fragile electorally and at the same time more antiliberal. However, it argues that the uribismo still exhibits its foundational characteristics, that seem compatible with Colombian democracy but at the same time feed very extreme positions. All this suggests that it would be reasonable to reconsider carefully the typologies that classify rightwing parties or movements only or mainly taking into account their relationship with democracy.
