Two distinct ones have been pointed out: the great inequality that has emerged in almost all the countries due to financialization and the crisis of legitimacy of the majority of the representative democracies in the world. The first may explain several of the movements in some countries, although it does not reveal everything. The second one, which refers to the crisis of legitimacy of most current governments, is not a crisis of democracy that leads, inevitably, to populism, but a crisis of representative democracy. This article will discuss, in its first section, this crisis of representative democracy and the manner in which the new contemporary social movements demand, and to a certain degree, experience participative democracy. In the second section, I will analyze the subjective sources of the present social malaise that lies at the heart of the present social movements that directly address subjective and cultural issues. Finally, in the third section, I will analyze how several of these subjective claims concern a clash of temporalities: between subjective temporality and social and institutional time as well as, for the first time in the history of mankind, with geological time. Este artículo arguye que los movimientos que inician con la primavera árabe, siguen con el movimiento Los Indignados de Madrid y Occupy Wall Street, y continúan con los gilets jaunes y con los múltiples movimientos sociales actuales: Hong Kong, Chile, Líbano, Colombia, México, tienen fuentes comunes. Se han señalado dos distintas: la gran desigualdad que se ha producido en casi todos los países del mundo por la financiarización y la crisis de legitimidad de la mayoría las democracias representativas del mundo. La primera puede explicar varios de los movimientos en algunos países, aunque no revele todo. La segunda, referida a la crisis de legitimidad de la mayoría los gobiernos actuales, no es una crisis de la democracia que da lugar, inevitablemente, al populismo, sino una crisis de la democracia representativa. Este artículo discutirá, en una primera parte, la crisis de la democracia representativa y la manera cómo los nuevos movimientos sociales actuales reivindican y, en cierta medida, viven la democracia participativa. En una segunda parte, analizaré las fuentes subjetivas del malestar social que está en el corazón de la mayoría de los movimientos sociales que están surgiendo actualmente y que abordan directamente cuestiones subjetivas y culturales. Finalmente, en una tercera sección, examinaré la manera cómo varias de estas reivindicaciones subjetivas atañen un choque de temporalidades: entre la temporalidad subjetiva y el tiempo social, el institucional y, por vez primera en la historia de la humanidad, con el tiempo geológico.
