The intention is to propose a historical-political reading that helps to identify the convergences and distances between postmodernism and the neoliberal model, contributing to the interpretation of the State and its place in the current historical moment. En el presente ensayo se realiza un balance histórico de los procesos político-sociales y culturales que explican el fenómeno neoliberal con el objetivo de identificar, a la par de su desarrollo, el origen de movimientos sociales, intelectuales y políticos vinculados con el posmodernismo. Se pretende, con lo anterior, proponer una lectura histórico-política que contribuya a identificar los encuentros y equidistancias entre el posmodernismo y el modelo neoliberal que contribuya a la interpretación del Estado y su lugar en el momento histórico actual.
