Theories of transitional forms, namely: after the collapse or collapse of the regime; transformation or reform; voluntary removal; and transaction, resulted from studies developed mainly from the 1980s on the fading of political regimes considered non-democratic, in the so-called third wave of democratization that began in the 1970s. Based on these theories, we seek to examine the forms regime transition in some African states in the post-colonial period and identify the influence of external factors in determining the transitional form.
