Sumario:This is the transcribed version of the inaugural lecture of the psychology course, in the Faculty of Psychology at the National University of Rosario. The purpose of the lecture is to present the most important contents of the syllabus. It is argued that human subjectivity is not an intimate quality of the individual, but is a consequence of the bonds with others, determined by language, social rules and culture. Psychology and psychoanalysis are defined, giving the reasons that justify the validity of psychoanalytic concepts on the structure and functioning of the psyche. A discussion is proposed between some of these concepts and those that compose the definition of psychology.
