It is argued that human subjectivity is not an intimate quality of the individual, but is a consequence of the bonds with others, determined by language, social rules and culture. Psychology and psychoanalysis are defined, giving the reasons that justify the validity of psychoanalytic concepts on the structure and functioning of the psyche. A discussion is proposed between some of these concepts and those that compose the definition of psychology. Se trata de la versión transcripta de la lección inaugural del curso de psicología, en la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario. El objeto de la clase es presentar los contenidos más importantes del programa de estudio. Se sostiene que la subjetividad humana no es una cualidad íntima del individuo, sino que es consecuencia de los lazos con los otros, determinados por el lenguaje, las reglas sociales y la cultura. Se definen la psicología y el psicoanálisis dando las razones que justifican la vigencia de los conceptos psicoanalíticos sobre la estructura y el funcionamiento del psiquismo. Se propone una discusión entre algunos de esos conceptos y los que componen la definición de psicología.
